Reporting an error
Please include the address of the page, the rule, figure or sentence you think is wrong, and a link to a source for the right information if you have one. We check every report against the source. Our corrections page explains what happens next.
Questions about your own basement
We have no crew and do no jobs, so we can’t look at your basement, review your quote, read your policy or recommend a contractor. Our guides show how to narrow down the source and which questions to ask. A structural engineer, an electrician, your city or your insurer decides what applies to you.
This is not an emergency line. If water has reached outlets or equipment, stay out of the basement and see what to do first. If you smell gas or anyone is in danger, leave and call 911.

If you make or sell a product we describe, or publish a rule or figure we cite, and a fact on our page is wrong, send a source and we will check it like any other report.
